English poetry by Er. Sushil Kumar Gochhayat from Koraput,Odisha,India

Rebirth

Pick my soul from where you left it.
Stranded there, heat, rain and cold
all torment it
And my lifeless body silently
renders services for society.
Come back, come back,
pick my soul with you,
exhort it again
to mingle  with my body
For my rebirth.
Ruffling my hair again,
em-bosom me
to exude your plethora of love
promising that
you would never leave me
at any cost.

THE MAGICAL REALISM

The empty street, gloomy room, accompained by a fragile heart,
This was what life was,
Right from the start.

At the twilight of adolescence,
When adulthood was just snicking around;
I was out in search of my place;
In the globe profound.

The surrounding seemed to be misty,
People enigmatic & things full of doubt;
Untill from that gloom & despondency;
A pragmatic figure emerged out.

It walked into my life like the rain in drought
Enlightened my soul for all those while &
Illuminated my lousy face;
With a blissful smile.

By it's droplets I was drenched,
My mind drifted away from agony to ease.
It seemed so surreal & I was overwhelmed;
By it's proffer of the abode of peace.

For it I wanted to bloom like a flower,
But it mistook it for thorn.
Eventually it gave up on me,
In every way & form.

One day it disappeared &
Was broken into pieces, my fragile heart;
Once again the flame was extinguished&
My life was blown apart.

But it left me with something,
Which in my heart will always be carved;
ie it's pro tem presence & the feeling of
Once being blessed by the power of love.

Odia poetry by Sanskruti Mohanty from India

English poetry by Damian Semwayo from Zimbabwe

I can’t breath

“Please!!”
He couldn’t get over
All that wrath he had, never
Albeit he did critical
It was so indefinite he thought he was going to die
Black in a Foreign land
Grinding, searching, to earn a grand
He left a child
So tender, so mild
He didn’t say goodbye to his wife
It gives and takes always, that’s life
If you heared dreams can shatter
Remember even Babylon did clatter
Will our demands bring up
A man lost with no pride, no thumbs up ?
Even if we say no today
But they wouldn’t want to bring a good day
Lord help us all
These they trap our soul
